Wifi

Free wireless internet access is available at all locations. Go to your device’s WiFi settings, and click Turner Guest. Please see the Computer & Internet Use Policy for complete details about privacy and security.

Computers

Library computers are for use based on the terms and conditions detailed in the Internet Safety and Computer Use Policy. These conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • A library card is not required to use a computer.

  • All computers are available on a first come, first served basis. 

  • Users are responsible for ensuring that their work is saved prior to logging off the computers, such as on a USB or via cloud storage. To protect users’ privacy, library computers erase all browsing history, files, etc; library staff are not responsible for lost content and cannot recover this information.

  • Printing/copying is available at a cost of $0.15/page in black and white and $0.50/page in color.

  • Users must cooperate with Library Staff as requested to ensure equitable computer use and a safe computing environment. Failure to do so may result in loss of computer privileges.

  • Headphones must be used to listen to audio content.

  • All computers will automatically shut down 30 minutes before the Turner Free Library's closing time.


Available Apps

OnlyOffice - Free, no login required Microsoft Office alternative

SimplePDF - Free PDF editor to add text and signatures

JS Paint App - Draw on a blank canvas or upload photos to edit


If you need more productivity tools, you can create a free Microsoft account online at Office.com to access the online versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or create a free Google account to use Google's alternative productivity apps.


Downloads

Files that are locally downloaded will save to the computer's Downloads folder or can be saved directly to an external storage device. All downloaded files are erased at the end of the computer session.


Logging Out/Inactivity

To log out, users should click the red “Exit Session” button in the bottom taskbar. This will end the computer session and wipe all local user and browsing data. 


The inactivity timer will automatically log users out after 10 minutes of inactivity. A warning dialog box will appear after 9 minutes of inactivity.

Creating a Printing Account

1. Connect your device to the “Turner Guest” Wi-Fi network 2. Go online to bit.ly/register2print 3. Register using your library card number (recommended) or creating a unique username. Please save your username and password for printing.

Printing From Your Own Devices

1. See library staff to create a printing account if you don't already have one. Your account will be under your library card number. 2. Go online to bit.ly/tflprinter and follow the instructions for your device type. 3. Send your document to the printer, selecting the black and white or color printer as needed. Double-check the print preview on your device. Library staff cannot offer refunds. 4. When prompted, log in with the following information:      Username: your library card number      Password: OCLN 5. There is no confirmation screen; instead go to the print release station and log in with your account information. 6. Deposit change or bills into the coin-op machine. 7. Select individual documents to print or click the “print all documents” button. 8. Click “logout” once you are finished. If you have change, you can choose to have it returned to you or saved to your printing account.

Printing From Library Computers

1. See library staff to create a printing account if you don't already have one. Your account will be under your library card or guest pass number.  2. Send your document to the printer, selecting the black and white or color printer as needed. You may also select single or double-sided printing, and the number of copies you would like printed. 3. Double-check the print preview on your computer; what you see on the screen is what will print. Library staff cannot offer refunds. 4. On the confirmation popup, check to ensure that the number of pages and the price is correct, then click "print." 5. Go to the print release station near the library's help desk and log in with your library card or guest pass number. 6. Deposit change or bills into the coin-op machine. 7. Select individual documents to print, or click the “print all documents” button. 8. Click “log out” once you are finished. If you have change, you can choose to have it returned to you or saved to your printing account.
